DUMBO
Reliable, affordable moving for Dumbo's lofts and high-rises.
Nestled between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, DUMBO is one of Brooklyn's most sought-after neighborhoods. Moving in or out of its cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and converted warehouse lofts requires a team that knows the area inside and out.
From navigating tight freight elevators and narrow stairwells in historic buildings to coordinating parking and loading on busy streets, our experienced movers handle DUMBO's unique challenges with care and efficiency. Whether you're relocating to a high-rise on Water Street, a loft near the Archway, or moving your business from one of the neighborhood's creative office spaces, we provide reliable, fully insured moving services tailored to the needs of DUMBO residents and businesses.
DUMBO, Brooklyn, is known for its beautiful waterfront, stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, and iconic landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge. The neighborhood offers a unique mix of historic architecture, modern residences, converted lofts, restaurants, cafés, galleries, and parks, creating an atmosphere that is both vibrant and welcoming.
One of the biggest advantages of living in DUMBO is its convenient location. With easy access to Manhattan and excellent public transportation, residents can conveniently commute to work, school, or other parts of New York City. At the same time, DUMBO maintains a distinct neighborhood character, making it an appealing place to call home.
DUMBO also offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy life outside of work. Residents can walk along the waterfront, relax at Brooklyn Bridge Park, explore local restaurants and cafés, or take in the incredible city views. Its creative energy, active lifestyle, and strong community make DUMBO one of Brooklyn's most desirable neighborhoods.
Whether you're moving into DUMBO for the first time, relocating within the neighborhood, or moving your business elsewhere, choosing an experienced local moving company can make the process easier and more efficient. With the right team, you can focus on settling into your new home or office while your movers take care of the logistics.
Yes. Cheap Moving NY is fully licensed and insured, and operates in compliance with both U.S. DOT and NYC DOT regulations.
Absolutely. We provide Certificates of Insurance (COIs) free of charge for as many locations as your building or property management requires.
A fixed-rate move is based on the inventory you provide, the logistics of the move, and your selected moving date. Once these details are reviewed, your moving consultant will provide a transparent, all-inclusive quote.
Your fixed rate will not change unless the details of your move change, such as adding items, changing locations, or rescheduling your move.
The biggest advantage of a fixed-rate move is knowing your total cost upfront and avoiding unexpected charges on moving day.
Fixed-rate quotes do not include:
Gratuity for the moving crew
Moving items that were not included in the original inventory
Packing materials and packing services (unless added to your move)
If you have any questions about your quote, your dedicated moving consultant will be happy to explain everything in detail.
Yes. Our movers carefully protect all non-boxed items, including TVs, mirrors, dressers, mattresses, lamps, and other furniture. We use thick moving blankets, stretch wrap, and protective cardboard to help prevent damage during transport. This protection is included in every move at no additional cost.
Yes. We disassemble and reassemble most standard furniture at no extra charge, including basic bed frames (non-storage beds), sofas, desks, and tables that require minimal assembly. More complex furniture may require additional labor and could be subject to a handling fee. Please let your moving consultant know about any specialty or oversized furniture when booking your move.
As required by the Department of Transportation, all moves include basic valuation coverage of $0.60 per pound per damaged item. If you would like additional protection, our moving consultants can recommend trusted third-party insurance providers that offer more comprehensive coverage.
For most dates, we recommend booking 1–2 weeks in advance. If you're planning to move during peak periods, such as the beginning or end of the month, booking 3–4 weeks ahead can help secure availability and the best rates.
We can often accommodate next-day moves, and in some cases even same-day moves, depending on availability.
Yes. We operate seven days a week, including weekends and national holidays, so we're available whenever you need us.
While tipping is always optional, a common guideline is 15–20% of the total moving cost for exceptional service. Tips are typically divided equally among the crew members. You're welcome to tip any amount you feel is appropriate based on your experience.
A little preparation goes a long way. We recommend:
Providing a detailed inventory to your moving consultant.
Decluttering and donating, selling, or disposing of items you no longer need.
Emptying furniture and packing all belongings into sealed boxes (unless you've purchased packing services).
